Date: 2011-02-18, 2:22PM PST

E-Mail to: job-ush4v-2221985010@craigslist.org

Raised Eyebrow Web Studio, Inc. is looking for a full-time DRUPAL DEVELOPER to help us serve the needs of our expanding roster of world-changing clients in the non-profit, government and progressive business sectors.

You’ll be working in our beautiful heritage Gastown office with a small, friendly team of experts who love what we do and are committed to fostering a positive, healthy work environment. (That means great clients, stimulating work, and no overtime, among other good things.)

This is an ideal position for a seasoned Drupal generalist who knows the ins and outs of building and theming medium-to-large Drupal sites, is comfortable writing the odd module here and there, and enjoys learning and sharing your knowledge.

If you’re looking to apply your skills working with a smart, creative team on projects that make a difference, you’re in the right place. We pride ourselves on bringing our passion for social change to the office, and combining our core values with the joy of doing high-quality, effective work for amazing clients.

You will be building Drupal websites, writing the occasional patch or module, and collaborating closely with our strategic, creative and technical team members. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Installing and configuring Drupal (both core and modules) in both stand-alone and multi-site environments;
  • Building Drupal sites using modules such as Panels, Views, CCK, Path Auto etc.;
  • Extensive theming using our own internal custom Drupal theme;
  • Customizing Drupal modules as needed, and potentially creating new open-source modules;
  • Custom PHP coding;
  • Basic web server administration for our LAMP-based VPS to ensure streamlined and efficient functioning of our multi-site Drupal installation;
  • Troubleshooting browser and platform agreement issues;
  • Assisting the rest of our team in testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of client websites;
  • Producing technical documentation as needed;
  • Estimating and managing your time effectively, in order to meet budgets, timelines, and client expectations.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience working on smaller teams – we are currently an eight-person studio.

Qualities We’re Looking For:

You combine a flair for creative technical problem-solving with an astute eye for detail. As a member of our small development team, you will bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to your work. You are:

  • A smart and detail-oriented person who loves working on the web;
  • Solid, responsible, reliable, and great at keeping the team in the loop on your progress;
  • Flexible enough to accommodate shifting client needs, requirements and timelines with humour and grace;
  • An excellent problem-solver and self-starter;
  • Comfortable working as part of a team as well as independently;
  • Efficient – you’re great at prioritizing and handling deadlines.
  • Organized, reliable and detail-oriented (bordering on nit-picky);
  • A curious and enthusiastic learner.

Must Haves:

  • 2+ years building and theming Drupal websites;
  • A minimum of 6 Drupal sites under your belt (we know lots of smart developers who work full-time on a single site, but we’re looking for more diverse experience);
  • Very strong background in dynamic/database-driven development (PHP 4 & 5/MySQL);
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Drupal, API, themes and assets;
  • Comfortable working with Mac OSX;
  • Expertise with (X)HTML, PHP, CSS2 and/or 3, jQuery and jQuery UI;
  • Advanced knowledge and implementation of W3C Web Standards;
  • Solid knowledge of browser/platform compatibility issues and techniques for front-end development;
  • Comfortable with production aspects of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – you’re careful and consistent about documenting your work.
  • Attention to detail;
  • Comfortable working in a predominantly Mac environment, with some Windows use;
  • Available 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for work in downtown Vancouver.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with Subversion and/or Git;
  • Experience contributing to open source software projects;
  • Fluency with WordPress (or other Content Management Systems);
  • Basic to intermediate fluency with DNS management and other aspects of VPS web server administration;
  • Interest/background in social justice issues and capacity-building in the nonprofit sector.

We Are:

  • An eight-person shop with clients in the non-profit, government and progressive business sectors;
  • Specialists in online strategy, design & development—we don’t do print or other media;
  • Committed to honest, high-quality work for high-quality clients;
  • Constantly learning, striving to improve ourselves and share our knowledge with others;
  • Devotees of standards-based, content-oriented web design;
  • Involved in the local Drupal & web development community;
  • Proud of our healthy & positive work environment.

Have a look around our site to find out more about us.
