Web Designer Required for Trumba Events Calendar Template

Date: 2011-02-18, 3:53PM PST

E-Mail to: job-penpw-2222146274@craigslist.org

We are creating an online events calendar using Trumba.com as the content management system. We need a web designer that can produce a web page from this template. We’d like to keep it simple but we will require a masthead logo design as well as the overall page design and configuration.

This is an example of the kind of calendar we are creating: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/automobiles/event_calendar.html

Preference may be given to web designers with WordPress template experience as well as we will soon be re-designing another site.

If you are familiar with Trumba or if it looks like something you can put on a page, get in touch quoting your hourly rate. Please provide a link to the most similar page you’ve done.

We are only interested in working with local Vancouver web designers and will not respond to others.

I am a Vancouver-based interactive designer who offers high-end, original web solutions. I’d like to add another freelance developer to the roster so that I can offer eCommerce and mobile design to my clients.

I’m looking for a Vancouver-based web developer with strong front-end, CMS, eCommerce and mobile development skills. The perfect candidate will be responsible for converting pixel-perfect, code ready PSD design files into identical, smooth-downloading, cross-browser/cross-device compliant websites. If you enjoy overcoming interactive design challenges and consider yourself a problem solver please keep reading.

- A strong online portfolio of work showcasing client websites (not your own) where you were the only one providing programming.
- At least 5 years professional experience in the industry — do not include time spent in school (sorry, this position is not suitable for recent grads or students)
- Though you’ll be working from your location, you must be based out of Vancouver and available for meetings should they be required
- 3 strong professional references

Necessary Skills:
- XHTML, XML, jQuery/Javascript, AJAX, CSS3, PHP and MySQL — hand coded, no WYSIWYG
- Drupal experience — if you have experience in both Drupal and WordPress then you move to the top of the heap
- eCommerce experience
- Experience in developing mobile sites
- Experience solving cross browser/cross platform coding issues
- Experience with @font-face implementation
- Image Optimization
- Ability to meet deadlines — this one is key
- Ability to communicate very well both verbally and in writing

Nice to have skills:
- Flash Actionscript development

If you think this sounds like a good fit for you, please respond with the following in your brief email cover letter:
- “Front End Web Developer” in the subject line
- Portfolio URL
- Hourly rate
- 3 references

I thank all candidates in advance, but will only be responding to those best suited for the role.

Please read before sending application or email – This is NOT a web DESIGNER position

Perfect for Experienced Students or Developers looking for extra work. Ongoing freelance and contract projects available for web developers who are extremely solid in their skills and provide fast, semantic CSS based layouts. Projects generally involve taking completed PSD design layouts from our design staff and creating developed sites in WordPress as a CMS – using semantic CSS, HTML5, PHP, JavaScript and JQuery when required. Maintenance, Trouble-shooting, production, current development code cleanup and monthly update jobs available as well.

All work is done through our company. Teams must be available to meet at least once a week to discuss projects – usually in the evening – work is done remotely from your own office. Possible in-house positions available in a 4-5 months. Payment is every 2 weeks as per standard. Projects are available for immediate start.

  • Excellence with developing WordPress sites
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS, PHP

  • understanding of design aesthetics and the importance of adhering to the art direction and design guidelines.

You must understand that the designs have to follow designer and art director requirements – while making the templates as flexible and semantic as possible – All items must use the stylesheet for layout. These are not slice and go Photoshop websites. You must understand the principals and importance of good semantic web development and be proficient with adapting layered Photoshop designs using transparent PNG’s, stacking order and positioned layouts in CSS – Then converting the HTML5/CSS designs to WordPress. Applicants must understand the importance of clean work, speed and proficiency. Applicants must understand cross browser, platform and mobile development standards.

Jobs are budgeted and scheduled – these are not freelance web design jobs direct to client – you are working for a design team and must work within project requirements understanding that you are hired for your own knowledge in your field of experience.
