I’m a wordpress beginner putting together my portfolio site.

The site design is well underway but could use some assistance with embedding media players for audio and video.

My budget is $20/hourly.

My expectations are that within a couple 2 hour sessions we will have embedded a simple and functional video player and an audio player as well as created a simple process/workflow for updating media content.

Hey guys,

I would like to point out that most of these folks aren’t deliberately undervaluing the work you do. They have a budget and they probably don’t fully understand their options. How many times have you ended up working with a client where you end up fixing something that they already have paid too much for because they didn’t have someone there helping them make educated choices with regards to their web projects?

For instance, someone is looking for a web developer for a ridiculously low rate to “build a wordpress site” for them… instead of writing tirades about it here, maybe spend some of that energy explaining how they could keep their costs down by doing a bit of the legwork themselves. Send them a link to the themes pages, explaining how configurable they are and how to find the options that would work best for them… they probably know best what they need, and may not have realized some of the features that may be useful for them. So, taking the time to look at a few dozen wordpress themes might be VERY helpful to them.

In the end, if you can help them help themselves, they may even decide that they’d like to pay YOU a reasonable rate for the little bit of time that it may take you to help them get everything set up and configured. It may not be coding, but, because you understand coding and design, your expertise can make you a valuable asset for non-development/design tasks as well.

Just a suggestion from an experienced designer, developer, and manager.

We need a programmer to work on the 2 projects listed below. There will be many more projects if we work well together.

The programmer must be:

1. Proficient with PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS

2. Proficient with coding custom wordpress themes.

3. Have a good command of the English language, preferably as their mother tongue.

4. Live in North America. We will not hire someone overseas for these 2 projects.

Project #1: Adding tracking of our PPC ad campaigns on our forms.

We send people who click our ads to a specific landing page with a form on it. The ad sends them to that specific landing page along with variables in the URL such as: “…/landingpage.php?kwy=keyword2&campaign=campaign1&adgroup=adgr1”.

What we need to do:

1. We need to add simple hidden fields that pick up the variable information from the url.

2. A problem that we have is most people who click our ads and land on a landing page will not fill out the form on the landing page. They will go through our website and read several pages before filling out a form somewhere else on our site. We need a way for the forms on other pages to still capture that information that was in the original url, and we need to have it sent to us in the form submission.

The site has about 17 main pages, and 12 landing pages.

3. We currently have 3 landing pages already created. These landing pages need the codes in the form necessary to capture the ad campaign data. We need the other 9 landing pages created. They all follow the same format and layout. They also have the same form. Only the text changes from landing page to landing page.

Project #2: Implementing a new design to a site.

This is about a site that we had done overseas. The site will submit a form to a different email address depending on the Ip address of the website visitor.

So if a website visitor on the West coast submits a form on our website, it will be sent to email 1. But if a visitor on the east cost submits the form it will be sent to email #2. The geographical areas have been subdivided into 7 parts. The form is working fine, but there are errors in the design. You’ll have the PSD files. We need you to fix all the design elements on the site.

What is needed now:

I need a separate quote for each project. There are many more projects to come if we find that you’re detailed oriented, capable of understanding our instructions and get the job done efficiently.
